Building in Norfolk Since 1919
Smith of Honingham
During 2019 we are celebrating 100 years since Herbert Smith started in business on his own account.
1919 saw Herbert return from the task of helping to produce aircraft in Norwich for Mann Egerton to find the job he left on the Honingham Estate no longer existed. So with four young children and a wife to support he started working on his own account as H Smith Carpenter & Builder.
The Sheriff of Norwich plants a time capsule in the foundations at a development in Bowthorpe. With him are council officials and Lady Evelyn Denington with members of the North British Housing Association.

February 2019
Centenary Dinner Dance
To start our celebrations of 100 years of building in Norfolk and North Suffolk we held a Dinner Dance at Brasted’s, Framlingham Pigot. We were joined by employees past and present, friends, family and colleagues from the industry.
The Claire Barker Band provided live music after dinner which topped off the excellent service and experience provided by Nick and his team.
June 2019
Royal Norfolk Show
We continued our celebrations during June with a trade stand at the Royal Norfolk Show. We had on display the history of the company, together with a 360 degree virtual reality tour of one of our recent projects with Broadland Housing Group.
We share our centenary year with Bentley Motors, and had on display a vintage Bentley to mark this occasion.
We enjoyed meeting with many client and members of our supply chain.
Where have we been working recently?
